When the sun sets and the daytime animals go to rest, squirrels and kingfishers are getting ready to sleep while the lorises and owls begin to wake. Here at our hotel, you don’t need to venture deep into the forest to experience wildlife. Every evening, right here in our garden and natural surroundings, we host the Wildlife Night Walk. This guided activity allows you to explore the fascinating animals that come out only after dark.
During this season, evening rains are common. The rain makes the air fresh and cool, while encouraging many creatures to appear. Walking along the quiet paths of the hotel, with raindrops falling softly on the leaves, you will discover the magical side of nature, just steps away from your room or balcony.

One of the most delightful animals you may see on the walk is the hermit crab. These crabs are unique because as they do not grow their own shells; instead, they borrow empty ones to protect themselves from predators and heat. At night, hermit crabs often wander around the hotel gardens and sandy paths, searching for food or a bigger shell.
It is important to know that there are two kinds of hermit crabs: marine hermit crabs that live in the sea, and land hermit crabs that spend their lives on land. The hermit crabs you see here in the hotel are land hermit crabs, and they do not survive in the ocean. For this reason, if you find one, please do not throw it into the sea. Instead, enjoy watching its slow and careful walk, and remember that these small creatures are a special part of the hotel’s natural life.

As you walk under the night sky, listen carefully, you might hear the deep, resonant call of the Spotted Wood Owl. With its large eyes and patterned feathers, this beautiful bird often hides quietly in the trees near the hotel.
If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of it perched silently on a branch, watching the ground below. Hearing or seeing an owl is always an unforgettable highlight of the tour.

Another fascinating animal that sometimes appears is the colugo, or “flying lemur.” Even though it is not a true lemur, it has an incredible ability, gliding. With a wide flap of skin stretching from its legs to its tail, it can leap and glide smoothly from tree to tree. Imagine standing on a hotel pathway and suddenly seeing a colugo glide silently above you, it is a breathtaking sight that will stay in your memory for years to come.
The most special highlight of the tour is the Bengal Slow Loris (Nycticebus bengalensis). This nocturnal primate is one of the treasures of our hotel’s natural surroundings. With its big round eyes glowing gently in the dark, the slow loris moves carefully among the branches. Our guides take great care to help you see it respectfully, without disturbing its natural behavior. For many guests, meeting the slow loris is the most magical part of their entire stay.
Because the Wildlife Night Walk takes place entirely within the hotel grounds, you can enjoy it without the challenges of hiking or long travel. The walk is gentle, safe, and suitable for all ages.
Our experienced guides will lead the way, pointing out animals and sharing stories about their lives. We recommend wearing light, long-sleeved clothing and comfortable shoes.
The night walk is more than just a tour; it is a chance to slow down, listen, and peacefully connect with nature. Whether you are traveling as a family, with friends, or on your own, you will leave with stories to share and memories to treasure.
From the shy hermit crab to the mysterious slow loris, every encounter during the walk adds to the wonder of your holiday. We warmly invite you to join us, discover the hidden wildlife of the hotel at night, and make this experience a highlight of your stay.
