Birdwatching Season at Khaolak Merlin Resort

A Perfect Time After the Rainy Season

After the rainy season ends, Khao Lak becomes a very special place for nature lovers. The forests are green, the air is fresh, and many animals become more active. This time of year is also the beginning of the birdwatching season. At Khaolak Merlin Resort, guests can enjoy watching many kinds of birds, including resident birds and migratory birds that travel from faraway countries.

The weather during this season is more comfortable. There is less rain, more sunshine, and cooler mornings. These conditions are perfect for birds to search for food and sing loudly. For visitors, this is the best time to explore nature around the hotel.

Migratory Birds Arriving in Khao Lak

One of the highlights of this season is the arrival of migratory birds. These birds fly thousands of kilometers from colder regions such as China, Japan, and Central Asia. They come to southern Thailand to escape winter and find food.

Around Khaolak Merlin Resort, guests may see migratory species such as flycatchers, warblers, and some shorebirds near wetlands. These birds usually stay from late autumn to early spring. Because they are only here for a few months, each sighting is special and exciting.

Resident Birds You Can See All Year

Besides migratory birds, Khao Lak is home to many resident bird species. These birds live in the area all year round and are well adapted to tropical forests. Commonly seen birds include bulbuls, sunbirds, drongos, and kingfishers.

Early morning is the best time to see them. Birds are most active at sunrise, flying between trees and calling to each other. Even inside the resort area, guests can enjoy birdwatching without traveling far.

Birdwatching Spots Around the Resort

Khaolak Merlin Resort is surrounded by natural habitats such as forest edges, gardens, and nearby national parks. These areas provide food, shelter, and nesting places for birds. Walking paths, quiet garden corners, and areas near water are excellent spots to observe birds. Guests are encouraged to walk slowly, stay quiet, and look carefully at tree branches and bushes. Bringing binoculars will make the experience even better.

A Relaxing and Educational Activity

Birdwatching is a peaceful activity that anyone can enjoy. It does not require special skills, only patience and curiosity. Guests can relax while listening to bird songs and watching colorful feathers move among the trees. This activity is also educational. By watching birds, visitors can learn about migration, ecosystems, and the importance of nature conservation. It is a great experience for families, couples, and solo travelers.

Respecting Nature While Watching Birds

While enjoying birdwatching, it is important to respect nature. Guests should avoid making loud noises, feeding wild birds, or disturbing their habitats. Keeping a safe distance helps birds feel secure and behave naturally. By protecting the environment, we help ensure that birds will continue to return to Khao Lak every year.
